Selling Xbox One X Gears of War and factory reset.✔︎

Recommended Posts

Guest Gregory

I‘m thinking of selling my son’s Xbox One X Gears of War Edition (DISC console)as we are going for series S.

I’d prefer not to completely factory reset as it will delete the digital Gears of War games that have been downloaded onto the console. Instead I have deleted the Xbox user account on the console and also removed the credit card details from Microsoft account.

If I leave as it is, the games are on there and I’m assuming the new owner can play them when they Sign In with their own user account?

QUESTION IS, IS THIS SAFE OR AM I REALLY BEST TO FACTORY RESET AND LOSE THE GAMES to prevent possible identity fraud? Thanks.

The new owner will be able to play games he bought himself, and when it comes to digital games, he'll probably be able to play unless you remove them, but then he'll pay you less, so console games will give you more profit if you leave them

If you are going for new series S you should do transfer or put all your games, profile back up on external drive. If you haven't, still ok, you will start everything from the beginning.

The new user will not be able to use your games as games are always connected  to users account  not the console. So most of the people doing proper factory reset to make sure everything is wiped off properly.

Hope that helps.

That’s true all the games are connected to the account, not the console. Even If you will leave the games on, the another user will not be able to use it. Plus it’s better for your safety to completely restore the console to factory settings.
