Nintendo Switch vs Switch Lite.✔︎

Recommended Posts

Good morning,

I know it’s more an Xbox related place, however I’m owning Xbox and planning  to buy Nintendo. So which should I buy? I can spend $400 but don’t want  to overpaid as I’m looking for something to play on the go/airplane or in the bed/hotel.

Actually it depends on the purpose of your decision. I have Nintendo Switch, not the Lite version. Lite is a bit smaller and you cannot dismount the joycons, and you cannot plug the console to a TV. If it is only to be used while you travel or have no access to a TV Lite could be a good option.

However if you plan to, sometimes, plug the console to the TV e.g. at your friends place, grandparents, hotel or any other place you should buy the ordinary version. It has a bit bigger screen, you can dismount the joycons and make a soldi controller, you may buy additional joy cons for you friends to play with you etc.

For me it is better to spend a bit more money and get a full product instead of the Lite version. Especially if you can have XGPU and play a lot of games on the go on you mobile phone or tab.

Like with Xbox, you will have two options.

1. Cartridges-you can simply and quickly put them in and start game straight away.

2. Download games(internet connection)from Nintendo Eshop straight to your account and then play straight away whenever you need.

If you will go for digital games please keep in mind that you will need more storage( microSDHC or microSDXC cards up to 2TB ).

I will advice you to wait for @GMd4d reply as Nintendo it’s not mine main topic on Xbox forum 😜.

Like @edjazoli25  said you have 2 ways of getting the game you want. Buy a cartridge to put it in your device or buy a digital copy from the Nintento eShop, or other websites (you can use digital keys) and then download the game. To play you do not need to have internet connection on Switch, you can play offline without any trouble. If you would like to play online with your friends you have to have connection to the internet and you should buy Nintendo Switch Online service - it gives you the access to dozens of NES and Super NES Games, you can save your game using the cloud and get some exclusive member deals. I do not use that service so I cannot say more about it 🙂

I used my mobile as a wifi router and it worked perfectly but I used it only to scroll through the eShop (which is an IndieGames Goldmine! filter games for e.g. $5 and you can get around 10-15 titles for about $20-30 easily) and buy a game for my kids when we were at my parents house.
